Adding Another Device

You must have at least one device enrolled in Duo to complete these instructions.

We recommend enrolling at least two of your personal devices in Duo. If your primary device becomes unavailable for any reason, you will be able to use your other enrolled device(s) to continue logging into UB services, and to manage enrollment of the unavailable device if necessary.

Eligible devices

  • Smartphone with mobile app
  • Tablet with mobile app
  • Security key
  • Landline phone (faculty, staff, GAs and TAs only)
  • Touch ID-enabled device

To request a hardware token, please contact the UBIT Help Center.

Instructions for adding another device

1. Visit the Duo Two-Step Verification Manager

  1. On a laptop or desktop, go to twostep.buffalo.edu
  2. If necessary, login with your UBITName and password
  3. Verify your login request with your already-enrolled device or a passcode

2. Click My Settings & Devices

3. Click Add a device

4. Select the desired option from the list

5. Follow the rest of the onscreen steps to complete enrollment of your second device

6. You will receive confirmation that you requested this device be added

You will receive an email notification with the subject line “Device, [device name] Added” or “Device, [device name] Removed” or a Duo Mobile app notification when an authentication device is added or removed from your Duo account.
