    A UB-led team has developed a groundbreaking plasma-electrochemical reactor that mimics lightning to produce ammonia from air and water at room temperature, offering a scalable, carbon-free alternative to the energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process.

    UB is implementing a comprehensive zero-waste strategy to achieve a 90% waste diversion rate by 2030, emphasizing recycling, composting, circularity, and campus-wide education to align with its climate action goals.

  • Sports performance center earns AIA award

    The Brittany Murchie Mulla Sports Performance Center at received a 2024 AIA Buffalo/WNY Architecture Design Merit Award for its outstanding sustainable design, including net-zero energy performance, full electrification, passive house energy efficiency strategies, high-performance glazing for natural daylighting, and above-code insulation to minimize heat loss, demonstrating UB’s commitment to climate action. 

  • Parking and Transportation receive national award
    12/9/24

    Parking and Transportation Services received national recognition in the Higher Education category at the 2024 TDM Excellence Awards for its advancements in sustainable transportation, including improvements to UB Stampede, UB Bikeshare, and campus infrastructure that promote mobility, climate action, and reduced vehicle registrations.
